Crisis Care Commitment

Whether it's shelter after an earthquake on the other side of the world or a hot meal for someone who finds themselves homeless and alone in their own town, we provide relief in times of crisis. 

Clean water for remote communities in East Timor, breakfast for Aussie kids so they can do better at school or a daily phone call to Australians living alone. Care when it’s needed most.

And we show commitment when others turn away, be it protection for innocent civilians in conflict or a safe blood supply thanks to 500,000 Australian voluntary blood donors.

With more than 100 million volunteers worldwide and 60,000 volunteers and members in Australia we reach people and places like nobody else. Red Cross is there for people in need, no matter who you are, no matter where you live.

The Movement

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is made up of 186 National Societies including Australian Red Cross with more than 100 million volunteers worldwide.

The Movement also includes the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as coordinating body, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) which works mostly in areas of conflict.

Our Movement's mission is to prevent or reduce human suffering, wherever it is found.  Our Fundamental Principles of humanity, neutrality and independence guide us in this mission.
